Nathalie Lavoine holds an engineering degree from the International Engineer School of Paper, Print Media, and Biomaterials (Grenoble INP-Pagora, France). After completing her PhD in Materials Science and Process Engineering at the Laboratory of Pulp and Paper Science (Grenoble, France) under the supervision of Dr. Julien Bras in 2013, she joined for two years the research group of Prof. Isogai at the University of Tokyo (Japan) and worked on the improvement of the thermal stability of TEMPO-oxidized nanocellulose.
In 2016, she joined the research group of Prof. Bergström at Stockholm University (Sweden) to develop thermally insulating and fire retardant nanocellulose-based composite foams.
Since 2018, she is Assistant Professor in the Department of Forest biomaterials, at North Carolina State University (Raleigh, NC USA).
Her research interests are in the area of nanocellulose production/characterization, nanocellulose-based advanced materials, active and intelligent packaging, drug delivery systems, and sustainable materials processing.
